The Twins Won't be Back for Transformers 3

Director Michael Bay says that Skids and Mudflap, which caused some controversy for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will not be back for next summer's Transformers 3. Bay posted a simple message on his forums stating that "The Twins are not back in T3."

In related news, actress/comedienne Kym Whitley posted on Twitter yesterday that she's part of the cast. "Working on Transformers 3 today, a little nervous...always when starting a new project. I have said the Lords prayer 12 times," she said.

Transformers 3 is scheduled for a July 1, 2011 release.

Scheinbar hat Bay bzgl. der Twins nicht ganz die Wahrheit gesagt: klick!

Außerdem wird es Dreharbeiten am Kennedy Space Center geben:

Brevard County Film Commissioner Bonnie King tells Central Florida on Demand that filming will last about 8 days in early September. She says location scouts have visited the area for 2-3 days at a time, looking at other areas to shoot. Those include Patrick Air Force Base, Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Merritt Island Airport, Lone Cabbage Fish Camp in Cocoa, and a Cocoa beach house. Scouts also checked out some swamps and went into the woods.

LaBeouf Says Transformers 3 Will be Better

Shia LaBeouf told The Associated Press that Transformers 3 "brings the heart back to the franchise." He starts working on the third installment on Tuesday.

The new script restores a human element that got lost in the second movie, LaBeouf said. "When I saw the second movie, I wasn't impressed with what we did," LaBeouf said at the Cannes Film Festival. "There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone."

In related news, actress/comedienne Kym Whitley talked more about her role to BV on Movies.

"I usually don't like mentioning that I am working on 'Transformers' because I was also in 'Transformers 2' and I got cut out," she said. "So I try not to get excited about working on the project until I see the final edit, because you never know what's going to happen."

She added that "The real excitement about working on the film just comes from working with [director] Michael Bay. He writes these parts for me and just lets me roll with it. You can't beat that. It's kind of like working with Larry David, when I did 'Curb Your Enthusiasm.' Michael Bay works fast though. He laughs a lot, too. You rarely get someone to just tell you to go ahead and do your thing. That's the beauty of working with him."

Transformers 3 is coming to theaters on July 1, 2011.

Megan Fox Not Returning for Transformers 3

Earlier this month, Megan Fox was spotted doing previz shots for Transformers 3, but now Variety is reporting that she will not appear as Mikaela in the third installment after all.

Paramount Pictures reportedly decided not to pick up her option as the studio and director Michael Bay want to take the story line in another direction and plan to cast another actress as the love interest for Sam Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf. The trade says the decision "was unrelated to a September interview with a British magazine in which Fox compared Bay with Adolf Hitler."

The third installment is scheduled to hit theaters on July 1, 2011.

Gemma Arterton Replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3?

With the news that Megan Fox is not returning for Transformers 3, speculation has already begun about who may replace her in the now coveted role. After the news hit earlier today, TheWrap posted an interesting bit:

"Prince of Persia" star Gemma Arterton is the front-runner to replace Megan Fox in "Transformers 3," TheWrap has learned.

An individual close to the casting process says the actress has already had discussions with Bay about the coveted role. Other possible replacements for Fox include models Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker.

What is interesting about this is that we got a chance to talk to Gemma at the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time premiere on Monday night. We only got her for a few seconds on the red carpet and we took that time to ask her about a possible Clash of the Titans sequel. She gave us a rather cryptic response.

"I don't know if I am doing 'Clash of the Titans 2.' I haven't seen a script yet so I don't know if it's happening," she said. Cool, that's a normal reaction, but then we asked whether she would want to make the sequel, and we got this answer: "I'm not saying."

We thought it was a weird response but moved on until we read the above about the possibility of her starring in Transformers 3. We're not sure when they would start production on a second Clash of the Titans, and one would think that she could do both, though her reaction may be telling that she's going to concentrate on the Michael Bay sequel for now.

We'll have to wait and see how this one turns out! We should know soon who gets the role as shooting is already getting underway.

Quote:
Megan Fox Quit 'Transformers' Over Michael Bay's Abuse

Megan Fox walked away from "Transformers 3" because director Michael Bay was "verbally abusive" toward her and "she had enough and decided to get out early," an individual close to the actress has told TheWrap.

TheWrap's emails to Bay's representation were not immediately returned.

Contacted by TheWrap, Fox's publicist would only reiterate a statement released Wednesday night to People.com, saying the actress "left the project on her own and wishes the franchise well."

That doesn't square with the version Paramount put forth Wednesday, when the studio confirmed to TheWrap that Fox's option hadn't been picked up for the third installment of the blockbuster franchise as a result of the new direction of Ehren Kruger's screenplay.

Given that the story broke Wednesday on Deadline, it's highly plausible that Paramount studio chairman Brad Grey's well-known relationship with editor-in-chief Nikki Finke played a part in how the story was initially spun.

The studio stood by that position on Thursday with the statement: "Paramount had the unilateral right to exercise an option for Megan Fox to appear in 'Transformers 3.' Paramount at its sole election allowed the option to lapse."

And while Deal Central was skeptical at first that Fox would walk away from such a lucrative role, persistent whispers around Hollywood indicated that there was another side of the story.

TheWrap's calls to Paramount on Thursday evening were not immediately returned.

Bay has a history of demeaning his leading ladies, including "Pearl Harbor" star Kate Beckinsale; an individual close to the actress recalled that the director "wasn't very nice" to her on the set, either.

Apparently, Fox wasn't the only "Transformers" cast member affected by Bay's rude behavior. TheWrap also learned that "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" star Isabel Lucas chose not to join her co-stars on a publicity tour for the film because she didn't get along with the director, who was described as being "too powerful" and "not well-liked" by the female talent community.

It's no secret that Bay has a reputation for being an extremely controlling filmmaker who can be difficult to work with at times -- but directors aren't required to be "nice." Just ask George Clooney and Lily Tomlin, the respective stars of David O. Russell's "Three Kings" and "I Heart Huckabees."

Another individual close to the sequel's production told TheWrap that Bay "wants his actresses to look a certain way, and if they can't meet his absurd standards of beauty, he gets rid of them."

Fox's issues with Bay have bubbled to the surface before.

The actress compared the director to Adolf Hitler and Napoleon in an interview with Wonderland Magazine in which she calls Bay "a tyrant" on set. She also stated that she feared for her safety during production, saying "[Bay] has you do some really insane things that insurance would never let you do."

Additionally, in a recent interview with Allure magazine, Fox expressed concerns about developing skin cancer due to excessive tanning as a result of Bay's displeasure with her skin tone.

Is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Replacing Megan Fox in Transformers 3?

Geek Week is reporting that according to some sources Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley will be Megan Fox's replacement in Transformers 3.

At present there are no details about her character. As for Huntington-Whiteley, aside from Victoria Secret, she is also Jason Statham's girlfriend.

As far as her acting resume, this is non-existent (except for playing herself on Victoria Secret Fashion Shows). However, Megan Fox was an unknown when Michael Bay cast her in the first Transformers film so there could actually be something to this story.

It seems that with all the money that it will cost to bring this film to the big screen, Fox's replacement will be announced by DreamWorks/Paramount sooner rather than later.

Transformers 3 comes to theaters July 1st, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

Michael Bay Says Megan Fox Was Pale and Underweight for "Transformers 3"

Megan Fox recently stated that she quit "Transformers 3" after director Michael Bay was verbally abusive toward her. It now turns out that tensions started when Fox arrived on set of the third film looking pale, underweight and unhealthy (according to Bay).

The director expressed his displeasure and gave the actress two weeks to go from size 0 to size 2 or 4. He was hoping that Fox would have the same curves she had in the last two installments.

Fox didn't feel like tanning or gaining weight, so she left the production and is now being replaced by a British model Rosie Huntington-Whitely, who has no prior acting experience. She is, however, recommended by Steven Spielberg.

The Wrap got in touch with Fox's people, who said the following about the situation: "We disagree with the assessment about her weight. She looks healthy and happy."

It turns out that even if Fox didn't quit, she probably would have been fired anyway. Shia LaBeouf, meanwhile, is not happy that his co-star is being replaced.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Confirmed for Transformers 3

Image

Director Michael Bay's official website has confirmed that Victoria's Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has landed the lead female role in Transformers 3. Huntington-Whiteley has worked with Bay before on his Victoria's Secret "A Thousand Fantasies" ad.

She joins Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn, Julie White, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey and Alan Tudyk in the third film scheduled for release on July 1, 2011.

In related news, the Los Angeles Times has more on the filming taking place in Los Angeles and other locations:

The DreamWorks/Paramount Pictures production has been shooting on a sound stage at the former Spruce Goose Howard Hughes hangar at Playa Vista and will film exterior shots throughout the L.A. area over the next several weeks, including Long Beach, West Hollywood, Century City and Malibu.

"Mike, [producer] Lorenzo [di Bonaventura] and I are all big fans of trying to keep as much of our production in L.A. as possible," said Bay's producing partner, Ian Bryce. "It's a big movie. All our stage work is being done here."

In all, six weeks of the 4 1/2 months of shooting will occur in the L.A. area, with the rest of the filming spread across Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral, Fla., and a few foreign locales, including Russia and an undisclosed African country, Bryce said.

New Transformers 3 Details!

USA Today visited the set of Transformers 3 and got new details on the third film, opening in theaters on July 1, 2011. The newspaper confirmed it will be released in 3D.

Talking about the second film, director Michael Bay said, "I'll take some of the criticism" while standing at a set built to resemble a dilapidated nuclear reactor. "It was very hard to put (the sequel) together that quickly after the writers' strike (of 2007-08)."

Bay said that "This one really builds to a final crescendo. It's not three multiple endings... As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending."

"One thing we're getting rid of is what I call the dorky comedy," Bay added. So the twins, "They're basically gone," he said, though John Turturro returns for comic relief.

The newspaper says the new villain will be Shockwave, "the robot cyclops-turned-laser-cannon, who became dictator of their home world of Cybertron after the other Autobots and Decepticons journeyed to Earth."

According to USA Today, "The new film features Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf) taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime." "Shia has this great line: 'You know, I've saved the world twice, but I can't get a job,'" producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said.

Transformers 3 centers around the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet's most dangerous secrets.

"The movie is more of a mystery," Bay said. "It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened."

TRANSFORMERS 3 Will Be Native 3D

We have already heard that there is a strong chance that Michael Bay is shooting TRANSFORMERS 3 in native 3D via Ridley Scott. Now we have exclusive information from a person very much in the know that it is in fact happening.

...As I said in the last post, I have recently spoken with Vince Pace who is of course very well known in 3D circles.

Here is what Vince had to say about his current projects:
"Trying to lay low and do what I do best. We took delivery of the first Alexa cameras for Hugo and have 23 more on the way. Transformers has also signed on to shoot 3D throughout the film. I am working on a big Disney film but can’t mention the name and are lining up five more films. Just wrapped on additional photography for Resident Evil and Tron. Currently in Hawaii and flying out to London for Hugo."

Perfect! I can't wait to see the 3D visuals from TRANSFORMERS 3. And the unnamed Disney movie shooting in Hawaii? I would place my bets on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES wouldn't you?

Di Bonaventura on Fox's Transformers Departure

Down in Washington, D.C. junket for the Philip Noyce's new conspiracy action-thriller Salt starring Ms. Angelina Jolie, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype had a chance to talk to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and we wanted to ask him a few questions about other projects on his producerial dance card.

One thing we really wanted to get to the bottom of was the sudden departure of Megan Fox from Transformers 3 a few weeks back. They already had a script when Fox and/or the filmmakers decided to part ways (depending on whom you ask), so we wondered how that happened.

"It's one of those things that built to a pressure point," the producer told us. "I think she knew and we did, I think we all tried really hard to make it work together, it just wasn't working."

"Definitely some script chances for sure," he responded when asked about how that departure affected the production. "I wouldn't say a tremendous number, but yeah, absolutely there were some changes, and I think as we're going along, we're discovering new ones we have to make as a result of them." >

Earlier in the day, di Bonaventura told a group of journalists that he thinks Transformers 3 will likely be the last installment at least for him and director Michael Bay, even if that doesn't mean Paramount won't reboot the series with new talent down the line. "It may not be the end of the line of Transformers for Hasbro and Paramount, but I would think so. (For) Michael, I'm sure it is. He's spent a lot of years working on one thing."

Michael Bay Denies Transformers' 3D Problems

There are few filmmakers as outspoken as director Michael Bay, who we can always rely on to comment on various rumors on the message board for his website MichaelBay.com. The latest rumor for him to address is the ones about his upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon having problems with its 3D. At the same time, he hinted that the first trailer, or as he calls it, an "announcement piece," will we seen in front of the next two 3D movies, Tron Legacy and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

Here are Bay's exact words as posted on the message board:

Wow, I read these morons on the internet who think they are in the know. "We have have problems with our 3D????” Really? Come into my edit room and I will show you beautiful 3D. There has never been a live action show that has pushed the boundaries of 3D like Transformers 3. We shot the entire movie with 3D cameras. I actually loved shooting in 3D.

I will give full details of my process and why I liked 3D in the next week right before the Transformers announcement piece comes out on Tron and Narnia.

And don't watch this movie in 2D, we made it for 3D.

Michael

So there you have it. The director who a few years ago was calling 3D a "gimmick" and saying that he doesn't see much point to it is now its biggest fan and is saying that the movie is intended to be seen in 3D ala James Cameron's Avatar.

You can make that decision for yourself when Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens on July 1, 2011. Check back for the first teaser-trailer sometime in the next couple weeks!
