Clive Owen sagt: "'Sin City 2' kommt nächstes Jahr"

Stephen L'Heureux on Sin City 2

Comics2Film at Mania.com got a chance to talk to producer Stephen L'Heureux about Sin City 2 and Hard Boiled.

L'Heureux told the site that the Sin City sequel will go into production in the second half of 2010. The sequel will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, who will again co-directed with Robert Rodriguez.

The producer added that Miller is working on the screenplay for Hard Boiled, based on his and Geof Darrow's comic about an insurance investigator-turned-cyborg assassin. Miller is attached to direct the adaptation.

Because Sin City 2 will take up Miller's time for a while, Hard Boiled could take a while to hit theaters. "There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'," he said.

Jessica Alba Hasn't Read A 'Sin City 2' Script

Perhaps one of the most iconic images from 2005's "Sin City" was that shot of Jessica Alba, lasso in hand, frozen mid-gyration in her role as Nancy Callahan, the exotic dancer with a heart of gold. While the character's most prominent part in Frank Miller's "Sin City" tales has already been told in the story "That Yellow Bastard," she does appear in many of the other stories — including one or two mentioned as potential "Sin City 2" source material.

So, when we caught up with Alba to discuss her role in the upcoming film "Valentine's Day," we had to ask if we'd see more of Nancy in future films.

"I've never read a script, no," Alba told MTV News when asked about the rumors of a "Sin City 2" script making the rounds.

Even so, Alba said she'd be more than willing to reprise the role — especially given her friendship with "Sin City" director Robert Rodriguez (who shared credit on the film with Miller).

"We talk all the time," she said of Rodriguez. "He's really a dear friend of mine, and I'd do anything for him. Collaborating with him on this movie was so much fun."

"He knows how to portray very powerful women," she added. "It was cool. It had humor and it was sexy and it was action-packed. There's nothing like a Robert Rodriguez movie."

With New 'Sin City 2' Script On The Way, Rodriguez Says 'Sooner Is Better' For Sequel

Jessica Alba talks to Robert Rodriguez "all the time" about "Sin City 2," and that's probably a good call, considering Rodriguez sounds like he could stand up and put the sequel together with Frank Miller at any moment. Speaking at the South By Southwest Film Festival, the "Sin City" co-director said he's waiting for the right time — but with a new script in hand, he doesn't want to wait all that long.

"It's only about timing," Rodriguez told MTV News. "It could happen very soon. It could happen a little later, It could happen even later. But probably sooner is better."

It's been half a decade since "Sin City" first premiered in theaters, but he's "about to get a new script" for the follow-up and both the film's producer Stephen L'Heureux and Clive Owen previously indicated that filming could begin as soon as this year. Rodriguez will be collaborating with Miller again, this time on some new stories, and both of them will likely want to get things rolling in the near future — even if Rodriguez says it will never be too late.

"No, never, but I just don't want to wait that long," he said. "I know Frank doesn't want to wait that long."

Rodriguez rewriting Sin City 2

Robert Rodriguez has revealed that he has returned to working on Sin City 2.

The Texan director - who helmed the hit comic book film noir starring Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Clive Owen in 2005 - has been talking about the sequel since 2007.

But Rodriguez revealed to Digital Spy: "We're still working on Sin City, I want to do it so we'll see. It's just a matter of when."

He went on: "We have a script... a rewritten script that we still have to write and it's just finding the right time slot to do it."

The highly-anticipated sequel has been delayed due to Rodriguez's work on other projects.

Brittany Murphy's character Shellie is thought to have played a significant part in the sequel, based on the graphic novel follow-up to Sin City, A Dame to Kill For, and so her death last December is thought to be one of the reasons for the rewrite.

Rodriguez will next begin filming his fourth Spy Kids movie in September.

Robert Rodriguez Expects to Make "Sin City 2" After "Spy Kids 4"

During a Facebook livechat, Robert Rodriguez revealed that "Sin City 2" will come immediately after he finishes directing "Spy Kids 4," which is still in pre-production. Unfortunately, there's one caveat.

"Frank Miller and I are working on it," he said. "It's slated to be the next one, but if the script is not ready, then we'll have to move to the next one."

How could the script not be ready? Two years ago Miller said that "'Sin City 2' is written and we could be shooting as soon as April [2009]."

Meanwhile, Rodriguez went on to say that he would like to bring back Bruce Willis, despite that his character died in the first film. "I wanna bring him back for 'Sin City' because he's so bad-ass," he explained.

Jessica Alba Talks a Return to Sin City

There's been talk of a sequel to Sin City ever since the movie came out. The flick, though gimmicky in its look, still holds up incredibly well, and hey, who doesn't want more Marv?

Star Jessica Alba talked a little bit about sequel possibilities while doing press for Little Fockers, a movie I'm sure all of you are going to head out to see in droves.

"We [Robert Rodriguez and Alba] were just talking about that actually in Austin, so we’ll see,” Alba told IndieWire. “We kind of talk about ‘Sin City’ every now and again, it comes up. We both love doing it, and we’d like to do it again; it’s just kind of, you know, a matter of time I think.”

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Moving Forward

Long-anticipated, Robert Rodriguez's sequel to his and Frank Miller's 2005 Sin City looks like it's finally getting ready to hit the big screen.

"Frank has written a script for 'Sin City 2,'" Rodriguez just announced in Comic-Con's Hall H, adding, "It could shoot as early as later this year."

Though the film will feature the title A Dame to Kill For and will adapt that original Frank Miller story, it will also feature two all-new stories set in the Sin City universe. The title for one of them was revealed for the first time as, The Long Bad Night.

At this point is unknown which actors might return for the sequel, though the Dame to Kill For story again features Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Nancy (Jessica Alba).

Sin City 2 Has Financing Says Robert Rodriguez

At the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Robert Rodriguez said that Frank Miller has written the script for Sin City 2 and that "it could shoot as early as later this year."

Talking to We Got This Covered, Rodriguez added that the sequel has financing in place as well:

"Sin City 2 is going good, we're just finishing the script for that, we already got the money. We have everything we need so we can just start shooting as soon as we get the pages. And it's the same thing for Machete 2. We've already got the budget, just waiting for the script. As soon as we're finished writing we get to start the shoot."

It is unclear which actors might return for the next film, though the previously-rumored "A Dame to Kill For" storyline again features Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Nancy (Jessica Alba).

William Monahan Working on the Sin City 2 Script

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have brought in Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) to work on the script for Sin City 2, reports Heat Vision. He'll be working from a draft completed recently by Miller.

Earlier this month, Rodriguez said that filming could start as early as later this year.

"'Sin City 2' is going good, we're just finishing the script for that, we already got the money. We have everything we need so we can just start shooting as soon as we get the pages," he said.

It is unclear which actors might return for the next film, though the previously-rumored "A Dame to Kill For" storyline again features Marv (Mickey Rourke) and Nancy (Jessica Alba).

Released in April of 2005, Sin City earned $158.8 million worldwide. The graphic novel adaptation was made for just $40 million, not counting marketing costs.

Marv and Nancy Callahan Will Return In Sin City 2

It was in 2005 that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's first Sin City feature film hit theaters and, for the intervening six-plus years, rumors have persisted of development on a big-screen sequel. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Rodriguez announced that a script was ready and that the project could go before cameras before the year's end.

Today, MTV has an update from Miller, who says that some tinkering is still being done on the script and a more realistic start date would be the spring of 2012. Already heavily rumored, Miller also confirms that the character of Nancy Callahan (played by Jessica Alba in the original) will again make an appearance, as will Marv (originally played by Mickey Rourke).

"'Sin City' number two is primarily an adaptation of the book 'A Dame to Kill For'," Miller reiterated, then adding: "It also features the short story, 'Just Another Saturday Night' and two new stories. One involving Jessica Alba's character, Nancy Callahan, that I came up with for the movie in order to tie things together and make it be more united with the first."

Callahan is also featured in "A Dame to Kill For" and, with Alba's recent appearance in Rodriguez's Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World, another teaming with the director isn't surprising (although still not fully confirmed). What is a bit more of a twist is the inclusion of "Just Another Saturday Night", a Marv-centered story that originally ran in "Sin City #1/2". The timeline of it runs concurrently with "That Yellow Bastard" (adapted in the first film). Marv also appears in "Dame" but there has, for years, been fan speculation that the story might have removed the character due to Rourke's announced reluctance to return to the role. Whether the actor's thoughts have changed or whether the part might be recast remains to be seen.

For those keeping score, a shot-for-shot adaptation of "Dame" would also include parts for Gail (Rosario Dawson), Miho (Devon Aoki) and Manute (Michael Clarke Duncan). The story's lead is the character of Dwight McCarthy who, though played by Clive Owen in the original, is supposed to have undergone significant facial reconstructive surgery between the events of "Dame" and "The Big Fat Kill".

At SDCC, Rodriguez also revealed the title of one of the new stories as "The Long Bad Night", meaning that, unless things have changed, there's just one title left to be revealed as part of the new film.

Rodriguez and Miller to Begin Production on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For!

It's official! Dimension Films has announced that Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller will start production on Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Here's the full announcement:

Filmmakers Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, along with producer Alexander Rodnyansky, have announced that production will commence on the highly anticipated sequel to 2005’s Sin City, entitled Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. The film will be produced by AR Films and Quick Draw Productions, financed through AR Films U.S and released domestically by Dimension Films.

“The first question I am always asked is “When will you make another Sin City? ,” said Rodriquez. “I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait.”

Sin City creator, screenwriter and co-director Frank Miller said, “The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.“

The script and details of the film’s story have been kept tightly under wraps. Casting will begin next week, with many of the original cast expected to return. The film, a Quick Draw Production, will be produced by Rodriguez and producing partners Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic; and by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergei Bespalov and Stephen L’Hereux. Miller, The Weinstein Company’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein and Miramax’s Adam Fields will act as executive producers. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed). The film is expected to begin production this summer at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Alexander Rodnyansky said, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Robert Rodriguez and Quick Draw Productions. It is a rare opportunity to produce and finance a film with the high profile and enormous fan base of the Sin City franchise. AR FIlms will be managing worldwide sales of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, as well as Robert’s Machete Kills at the Cannes Film Festival in May.”

The original Sin City was brought to the screen by Rodriguez and Miller and released by Dimension in 2005, and proved to be a landmark step forward in filmmaking, breaking ground with immersive green screen to create its iconic stylish look. The first film, released on April 1, 2005, grossed over $160 million (US) worldwide and is a consistently strong home video and television performer.

“Audiences have been clamoring for Sin City 2 with Robert and Frank for a long time and trust me, it will be worth the wait,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. “This will be my 11th collaboration with Robert in 16 years and he’s become a great friend. I look forward to continuing our long lasting relationship and partnering on more projects in the future.”

The deal was negotiated by Aaron Kaufman, Craig Emanuel of Loeb & Loeb and Robert Newman of WME on behalf of Rodriguez; David Glasser and Andrew Kramer on behalf of Dimension Films; Schuyler Moore of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and Jere Hausfater on behalf of AR Films; Kenneth Keller and Garth Rosengren of Krieg, Keller, Sloan, Reilley & Roman and John LaViolette of Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal LaViolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman on behalf of Stephen L’Heureux and Solopsist Films; and Mark Lichtman and Neil Meyer and Allison Binder of Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson & Binder on behalf of Miller.

Jessica Alba refused to strip for 'Sin City 2'

Jessica Alba has insisted on a body double for her stripping scenes in "Sin City 2."

The actress isn't happy with her body after two kids and has insisted a stand in is used for the more provocative scenes.

A source told Life and Style magazine: ''She was crushed when filming began and she didn't have her original body back so she told producers she wanted a body double.

''Her body is incredible, but for her it's not good enough. She's cut out carbs and does the P90X Ab Ripper twice a day, but she still isn't happy.''

Jessica, 31, has also reportedly been chain smoking to keep her mind off food.

The insider added: ''She's been chain smoking lately to keep her appetite at bay. Jessica struggled with an eating disorder in her teens and when she's under pressure to look good for a part, she can slip back into extreme behavior.''

A Lot More Dancing for Jessica Alba in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

Fans looking for more dancing from Jessica Alba's Nancy Callahan in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will not be disappointed.

Alba told Vulture that she "had to learn a bunch of dance sequences for it. I do a lot more dancing in this one." She added that she needed three months to prepare for the part. "It was kind of crazy. It was very, very difficult, and you'll see why."

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is currently in the works for an October 4 release. The Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller film also stars Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Dennis Haysbert, Jamie Chung, Chris Meloni, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven and Bruce Willis.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Moves to August 2014

It's been a long, hard road for Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's Sin City follow-up to get to theaters. After many years of delays, the film began production last October and was slated for an October 4, 2013 release. This has now changed, as Dimension Films has pushed back the film's release to August 22, 2014 instead. No other film currently holds that release date.

The film stars Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Jamie Chung, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Julia Garner and Stacy Keach.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Frank Miller's classic stories with new tales in which the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants.

In Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to "The Big Fat Kill" (featured in the film Frank Miller's Sin City) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
